Learning outcomes:
Knowledge:

The student will know about:
  • The historical background of robots and robot-technologies
  • The basic elements of robots – mechanics, actuators, sensors, electronics and software.
  • The basic elements of programming.
  • Programming techniques for real-time software developments.
  • Algorithms to create state-based programs.

Skills:
     
The student will be able to:
  • Analyze a problem and describe a robot which can solve it.
  • Design and build simple robots, inspired by construction manuals.
  • Choose the appropriate sensor for a given application.
  • Choose the best actuator for a given task.
  • Pick the best software function to control the actuator.

Competence:

The student can:
  • Describe an algorithm which enables a robot to solve given tasks.
  • Use the concepts in modular programming to implementing an algorithm.
  • Write the source-code for a modular program.
  • Perform test and debug of a program to a simple robot.

Form of instruction:
Lectures, practical and problem solving.

Examination conditions:
The portfolio must meet the requirements and handed in on time and in accordance with the requirements specified at the start of the semester.

Evaluation
Individual oral exam with an internal co-examiner. The individual portfolio will be included as basis for the examination.
Grade in accordance with the Danish 7-point grading scale.
