Learning outcomes:
Knowledge:
Having completed the course the successful student will have knowledge about:
  • VHDL coding style and I/O layout
  • Xilinx ISE and constraints
  • Smart Compile and Partitions
  • Schematic, Floorplanner and FPGA editor
  • Simulation using ModelSim (with test benches)
  • Debugging using ChipScope
  • EDK (pico- and micro-blaze)
  • Coregen and standard components in different FPGAs

Skills:
Having completed the course the successful student will be able to:
  • Write functional programs in higher level programming languages such as HandelC
  • Localize and mend possible timing problems.

Competences:
Having completed the course the successful student will be able to:
  • Present results from the project work in the form of a scientific journal.
  • Develop applications on FPGA using the presented tools.
  • Document and verify that the implemented applications perform as expected.

Form of instruction:
Lectures integrated with exercises and assignments.

Evaluation
Individual written report based on project and theory and evaluated according to the Danish 7-point grading scale, with internal co-examiner.
